Cornerstone Bank EVP & CAO Susan Gunnell to Retire

After many years of dedicated service, Susan Gunnell will retire from her role as Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer. She will remain with the bank through April 2020 and help coordinate an effective transition for the executive team. Ms. Gunnell began her lengthy career at Southbridge Savings Bank in 1980 as a teller and steadily made her way through the ranks to ultimately become that institution’s second-in-command. Her various positions there included assistant bookkeeper, accounting manager, human resources manager, and SVP of retail banking. Sue received well-deserved recognition throughout her professional life—not only at Southbridge Savings Bank, but also after it merged with SpencerBANK to become Cornerstone Bank. Ms. Gunnell helped to expand the Bank’s training program and participated in community work that received acknowledgement from the United Way as well as many other associations. She has been actively involved in the Bank’s Charitable Donations Committee decision-making for numerous local nonprofits, and worked with the Bank to promote drives for school supplies, local food banks, and local heating assistance programs. In addition, Sue was a Worcester Business Journal “Outstanding Women in Business” award recipient in 2015. “To say we’ll miss Sue doesn’t even begin to express our heartfelt feelings,” said Cornerstone Bank President & Treasurer Todd M. Tallman. “She is as dedicated today to helping others as when she first started. We will miss her beyond words and wish her much happiness.” “Sue’s contributions over almost four decades have been exemplary, enabling us to continually grow, while still maintaining our focus on the communities we serve,” stated Cornerstone Bank Chairman & CEO K. Michael Robbins. “Sue has never lost her enthusiasm or passion for her work here. We wish her all the best.”
