This donation is the first installment of a 3-year, $18,000 pledge and will be used to help establish and maintain a new summer program at Worcester State University geared toward incoming freshmen students who need personalized academic support before starting the semester. Named the Cornerstone STEM Scholars, this new program developed by the University will enable the participation of 20 freshmen students in the Bridge to Excellence: Summer STEM Retention Program. This program is offered to eligible freshmen students who have declared a major in biology or biotechnology to better prepare them for the rigors of these academic majors. The first program will start with accepted freshmen for the 2018 fall semester. “Worcester State’s mission is to champion academic excellence in a diverse, student-centered environment, and this program is just another way for the University to provide support and resources for many students,” said Chairman and CEO of Cornerstone Bank K. Michael Robbins. “We are proud to be able to help our future generations pursue a higher education.” “Everyone deserves the best opportunity possible to attain a degree,” stated President and Treasurer of Cornerstone Bank Todd M. Tallman. “It’s a great way for us to give back to our community.” If you are interested in learning more about Worcester State University or the Cornerstone STEM Scholars program, visit www.worcester.edu or call 508-929-8000.
